Leucocrystal Violet (LCV)

DISCLAIMER: Area of suspected blood must be dry prior to the application of Leucocrystal Violet. 

1. Apply Leucocrystal Violet to the item or surface.

Spray application: Evenly apply Leucocrystal Violet with an aerosol sprayer. Development should occur within 30 seconds. 

2. After 30 seconds, blot the item or surface with a clean tissue or paper towel.

3. Allow item or surface to air dry. Once dry, previous steps may be repeated to potentially improve contrast. 

3. Ridges will develop a dark blue or purple color and can be captured using 1:1 photography. When using Leucocrystal Violet in direct sunlight, the developed ridges should be documented as soon as possible to prevent unwanted background development.
